about me

The Subtle Art of the Nudge.

Most modern marketing agencies are obsessed with two things: Data & Reporting. They will go to the ends of the earth to collect and display dizzying amounts of data, from every possible source, with the promise that it's necessary to increase conversions and drive sales. Conversely, I believe they do this in order to justify their rates and the lengths of their contracts.

I take a more behavioral and psychological approach that's fixed on one principle: Marketing is primarily about people, not data. I started Nimbus Media with this in mind: We've ignored almost all the data that comes from the web design industry and instead focused on solving practical problems for our clients and their businesses.

The end result is that the only thing we've ever spent time marketing is opportunity and access to high-end web design and automation services. The decision to allow clients to finance these projects was intuitive and easy-to-make; why wouldn't we do that? We could have paid attention to the data on risk, profit at scale, or alternative pricing models- but none of that stuff matters when you build a relationship with a client. Trust is more profitable than data.

process

The approach evolves through three phases:

Scope & Curiosity

Simply put, I'd like to know more about your business. Your current marketing approach across various channels, your client acquisition and sales process, as well as onboarding and retention. This discovery helps inform our strategy moving forward, but it all starts with understanding the client journey and what's already working for your business.

01

Pain Points & Choice Architecture

This next step is where the proverbial gloves come off. I'll look at every bit of software that's attached to your business, and identify areas where psychological resistance is inadvertently created for clients. Similarly, I'll work to reduce the amount of steps that each client needs to take and provide recommendations for software solutions that streamline the process.

02

Building the Lattice

Now that we've charted and cleared the path, this last step involves putting the right resources in front of you. Responsive Web Design & Development, Brand Identity, Persuasive Copywriting, Photography & Visual Media, and a variety of trusted vendors that I've worked with for years. Removing pain points, reducing the amount of steps, and building automation workflows won't help unless they ride on quality infrastructure.

Any questions?

“Remarkable marketing is the art of building things worth noticing right into your product or service. Not slapping on marketing as a last-minute add-on, but understanding that if your offering itself isn’t remarkable, it’s invisible.”- S. Godin
